RPC TV Network Chooses Apantac Tahoma Multiviewers

Portland, Oregon, USA - August 10, 2009 - Apantac LLC, a leading designer and developer of high quality, cost effective image and signal processing equipment, announced that Brazilian broadcaster, RPC has purchased 20 TAHOMA Multiviewers for their eight television stations that broadcast to the Parana region of Brazil. The Multiviewers were provided and installed by Apantac's Brazilian dealer, Sterling do Brasil.

The TAHOMA Multiviewers provide RPC with HD signal monitoring for eight television stations. The Multiviewers combine video and audio sources that provide the critical monitoring core for all of RPC's transmissions at their television stations. The Multiviewers are used to monitor a combination of 3G, SD, HD, analog, and digital video source inputs, combined with discrete analog and AES audio monitoring. The sources are fed onto displays and support HDMI / DVI / VGA outputs at resolutions up to 2048x1080.

The TAHOMA series are a 3G family of Multiviewers that auto-detects 4 to 32 video inputs (HD/SD-SDI/Composite), supports DVI, HDMI and VGA outputs up to 2048x1080 (incl. 1080P), and includes built-in video and audio alarm detection. The TAHOMA series incorporates a built-in CATx extender, which allows digital 1080P signals to be extended up to 115 feet. The unique combination of a Multiviewer and built-in CATx extender in a single solution helps reduce overall equipment costs and eliminates any equipment compatibility issues that may arise.

"During NAB 2009 and after a series of manufacturer comparisons, we finalized our choice with the TAHOMA Multiviewers," stated RPC Project Engineer Emerson Pereira. "The feature set provides us with unsurpassed flexibility and with the large amount of signals that we need to monitor, we needed a reliable monitoring system that was easy to configure and without restrictions on the signal format or aspect ratio."

Apantac's skin technology lets users personalize their on-screen display with any graphics tool.  Video windows on the display may include multiple labels, and support UMD, OMD, IMD and standalone labels. TAHOMA Multiviewers include 16 channels of embedded audio per input with 4 channels of discrete analog or digital audio as an option. Audio can be associated with the video windows or work as standalone audio meters on the display monitor.

The front panel of the Tahoma series also offers a unique feature-set that includes a headphone jack with volume adjustment for audio monitoring. And, front panel buttons enable users to quickly recall presets.
